BECOMING MIRANDA MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY
President's Statement

"We see this as an opportune time to rebrand our company as we head into the new Pavilion Performing Arts Centre. New year, new venue, new name! The Sutherland Shire Council invested over $40 million in renovating and refurbishing this historical theatre, with a focus on creating a hub in the community allowing people to access and experience world class entertainment, and we are honoured to be given the first opportunity to produce a musical in this space and showcase to the community all it has to offer.

“Since its launch, The Pavilion’s website has listed incredible events including the Bangarra Dance Company, The Wharf Review and Sydney Comedy Festival. With our name change, we believe this will allow Miranda Musical Theatre Company to stand alongside these names, lifting us from being a  community group, to a performance company equal to our new surrounds and the quality of productions we already know we can produce.”

- Meredith Simpson, President of Miranda Musical Theatre Company

IN PIECES
a virtual cabaret

The aim of this project from MMTC was to bring some vital happiness and fun into the lives of both our members and our audiences during COVID-19 lockdowns. To do this, MMTC curated a short series of individual performances from some of our most popular shows including Jekyll and Hyde, Les Misérables and Jesus Christ Superstar.

These selections are performed by the people who starred in those shows and were all filmed in a live concert setting whilst strictly adhering to current COVID-19 safe practices. Each performance was released weekly and our entire series can be viewed here.

Celebrating the Life of Miranda Musical Society's Founding Member - Laurel Gee

We are deeply saddened to announce that Laurel Gee, our friend, Foundation Member, Foundation Secretary, Life Member and Leading Lady, passed away on 15 June 2022 at the age of 90, after a short illness.

A true ‘leading lady’ in every sense of the word, Laurel was a wonderful performer and friend to all who shared her passion for musical theatre.
We will miss you Laurel, and we are so grateful for the role you played in Miranda Musical Theatre Company. Our sincerest condolences to her partner, family and friends.
